Three Halloween – themed shows brought a wide variety of costumed characters into Putnam Den, all vying for the various contest prizes offered on each night.  Oh yeah; great musical performances were part of the action, as well.

Friday’s quadruple bill of Skeletons in the Piano, Partyboat, Cosmonauts and Linear North kicked off the fun with a stage full of wide-ranging, emerging indie rock talents.

Saturday was the Den’s first annual Hillbilly Halloween; and a large crowd turned out for the scary sights and the well-paired sounds of Headband Jack and Eastbound Jesus. Both of these local acts seem on a trajectory to bigger and better things —  and the Den is proud to be helping get them there.

Halloween night itself brought in the edgy Brooklyn/Israel duo Hank & Cupcakes, who pleased the crowd with their dance-friendly brand of funky indie-pop. Local faves Playing With Sound opened.
